A
celebration took place late Wednesday night after the winners of the
Village of Medina trustee election were announced. Joined by Mayor Adam
Tabelski and trustees Andrew Meier and Tom Snyder, newly elected
trustees Kelly Kiebala and the family of Mark Irwin gathered at the
Shirt Factory Café to celebrate the results.
“I’m excited,”
Tabelski said. “The results were pretty clear cut. Kelly and Mark are
great people and were great candidates. They have been part of the
community for a long time and now they can serve it in a different way.”
Out
of the approximately 600 people who voted, Kiebala received 377 votes
and Irwin received 356. Candidate Clayton Ehrenreich received 250 votes
and incumbent Owen Toale received 237.
“I’m grateful to the
Village of Medina and I won’t let it down,” said Irwin, who was out of
town for the election and learned of the results over the phone from
his wife, Karen. Irwin said he is extremely glad to be elected
alongside of Kiebala and believes the village will have a tremendous
board. He also congratulated Toale and Ehrenreich for a good campaign.
Kiebala
was also away when the results were first announced. She said that when
she did learn of the results, she was honored to have received so much
support from the community. She said even though she knows it will be a
learning process at first, she looks forward to getting up to speed and
continuing to move forward, working with the rest of the board.
“We’re
very humbled to have the support of the voters,” said Meier. “Mark and
Kelly worked extremely hard to earn their confidence.”
Like Meier, Tabelski said that the two worked very hard and had positive attitudes through the entire process.
“I
think they’ll do a great job,” he said. Tabelski also said that he is
very glad to be back home and be able to be in his community and around
his friends and family, again.
